I actually love this thing. Don't forget, if you are looking for sound quality, you shouldn't be looking at a $30 cassette player. Let's face it, it's a dirt cheap cassette player with little or no bells and whistles. It was easy to fix the rear speaker problem by splicing a few wires together on the wiring harness. The perks are as follows: -There is almost nothing to break or go bad.-It was super easy to install.-No one is going to steal a cassette player from your car unless they are clinically insane or terribly stupid.-The 1/8" stereo jack is perfect for use with an iPod or MP3 player.-It's dirt cheap. The "bass" button does close to nothing, the overall sound quality is slightly less than "OK," and there are only wires for front speakers and not for rear. That being said, I'm not complaining.
The volume knob doubles as the power switch, with the appropriate satisfying 'click.' The mechanical tuner feels like it should, allowing you to traverse the spectrum with just a few twists of the dial. I haven't tested the tape player yet, but I hope to, as soon as I find some tapes.
And it's completely theft-proof.Sure, it could be more powerful, and have some tone controls. The 3.5mm input works great.
Maybe I'm a luddite, but this radio is great. Still, at least you won't have to take your eyes off the road to find the right button to press. There's no tone adjustment aside from a bass button, and if stereo's not your thing you can turn it off.
I'd pay an extra $5 for that, Dual, are you listening. There's not a single digital component in it.
If you listen to the radio much, you'll appreciate that, as there are no presets and you'll have to fiddle with it quite often.
Not high end but functional for an old truck. Only 30 watts but with MP3 input it really is a steal and now I also can play my old cassette tapes again. Great radio for the money, shipped fast and installed quickly in my 1985 Suburban using 2 shaft config. You would have to be real stupid not to see that the side brackets come off for this type of easy install.
I guess I'll have to read the directions a little bit to familiarize myself with this product. This is about as high tech as you can get when it comes to car stereos. The only thing wrong that i noticed was that the slot for the cds was too small and i could not fit a cd inside. Also the navigation part was a little tricky to use.
Power output is marginal. If you are looking for something, anything, to fill the void in your old dash, without hacking it open to DIN size, this is worth your consideration. Not a 5 star product, but definitely a good value and worth the money not to have to do dash surgery. Plan to use the line out jacks and an external amplifier if your car is moderately noisy. I have no use for the cassette and only limited interest in the analog tuner. But the aux input is great, and surprisingly, the tuner is pretty good too.
